Moorestown man pleads guilty to theft of Romano gas station


A man from Moorestown has pleaded guilty to an armed robbery at the Romano gas station, but must pay restitution for it and another theft at the same gas station, reports the Burlington County Times.

Theodore Brown Jr. had previously been charged with two thefts at the gas station and one at 7-11 on Chester Avenue.

On Tuesday, he confessed to the armed robbery at Romano’s home which took place on September 26, 2014, according to the report. Charges in the other two robberies have been dropped, but he must pay $ 1,500 in restitution for the two burglaries. He has to pay it to the company and to a victim.

In the September 26 incident, Brown admits to threatening a 23-year-old guard with a long-barreled handgun before escaping on foot with $ 300. The attendant was not injured.

The other robbery at Romano’s took place on August 6, 2014. This incident also saw a man rob an employee at gunpoint.

The flight of 7-11 took place on October 9, 2014.

Brown has a criminal record that includes five previous convictions in over 25 years, including stalking, drug possession and burglary, according to the report. His lawyer said this played a role in the guilty plea and that the court should consider his client’s alleged “psychiatric problems” when determining the sentence, according to the report.
