Residents of Falmouth are now ready to take advantage of the latest Texaco-branded gas station and food store in the bustling and frequent cruise ship destination town of Trelawny. Oil marketing company Texaco Jamaica, owned and operated by GB Energy, unveiled and officially launched its new gas station, located at 85 Market Street, to customers and special guests at an official groundbreaking ceremony that s ‘is held recently.

Dr Andrew Wheatley, Minister for Science, Technology and Energy, gave the keynote address and said the energy sector is fueling the growth of the economy. He indicated that the government’s objective is to diversify the energy mix, that is to say to switch from fossil fuels to renewable energies and that liquefied natural gas (LNG) represents a forward evolution of the market. This will allow small island states like Jamaica to start breaking away from reliance on traditional energy sources, he said.

The new gas station has best-in-class standards using the Texaco 20/20 design on the forecourt and pumps. Enhanced features include an automatic tank gauging monitoring system, loss detection systems, environmental monitoring and sensors to check for leaks.

Customers and residents of Falmouth will now enjoy a comfortable and convenient experience and a well-stocked grocery store that offers a wide variety of items, from petroleum products to household items. The catering café offers a varied menu of cooked meals, soup, gourmet hot dogs, patties, pastries and coffee.

According to General Manager Mauricio Pulido, the Falmouth Texaco gas station is a reflection of GB Energy’s commitment and dedication to the community, with ongoing efforts to provide jobs and support to the areas surrounding its operations.

“Our vision is to be a strong believer in improving the lives of people in the communities in which we operate,” he said.

The ceremony ended with Wheatley, Pulido and others cutting the ceremonial ribbon, officially declaring the gas station open to the town of Falmouth, another feather for the Texaco Jamaica team which now has a total of 54 branded gas stations throughout the island.
