Hyundai Oilbank unveils first metaverse gas station

The company has created an all-in-one digital station in the platform to promote its various business areas and for customers to visit.

Hyundai Oilbank has created an all-in-one digital gas station inside the Metaverse, a platform that users can access to visit a 3D model of the site. The virtual station was designed to promote other business areas of the company as well as its wide range of fuel options for drivers.

The company issued a press release stating that the hybrid power station is accessible via PCs and smart devices, according to a report by local news site Aju Business Daily. Customers can access the Hyundai Oilbank channel and use station facilities to fuel vehicles with fossil fuel, hydrogen, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and electricity.

The metaverse is a virtual space that users can access through their own personalized avatars and participate in different social or economic activities. The virtual station was created in Zepeto, a metaverse platform created by web services company Naver, which allows 250 million users to create their own 3D avatars using facial recognition.

Currently, the Metaverse is a technology that is still in its early stages of deployment, but that hasn’t stopped companies from investing in its development and looking for future business opportunities. The outlet cited Emergen Research’s projection of the global technology market and said it is expected to grow from $47.7 billion in 2020 to $828.95 billion in 2028.

Other researchers have made similar projections, such as the recent “Global Metaverse Industry” report from which projects that the global metaverse market will reach US$758.6 billion by 2026. In this scenario, several companies created or expanded their business reach, such as Meta or the previously mentioned Naver, to keep up with this growing trend.
