Firefighters called Castle Donington service station after lorry fire


Fire crews were called to a Castle Donington petrol station to attend to a lorry fire.

The incident happened at Moto Services around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8.

The lorry involved is a vehicle used to shred paper – footage shows firefighters at the scene working to put out the blaze.

The service said in a statement on February 8: “We are currently present at Moto Services Castle Donington.

“A truck used to shred waste paper is involved in a fire.

“Teams from Donington Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Ashby Station and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service from Loughborough Station worked quickly to prevent any escalation of the incident.

“Water or foam are best for paper [is the best extinguisher for a paper fire] which is a class A solid fuel fire.

“Remember to use a fire extinguisher on a small fire like a wastebasket only if you are confident and competent.”
