City of Killeen opens water filling station

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) – The Town of Killeen said on Friday it could be weeks before full water service is restored and announced it had opened several water refill stations in across town.

The City has established three water refill points for residents who require water. The following locations will be open Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.:

  • Killeen Water & Sewer, 805 W. Jasper Drive
  • Community Center Complex Ball Pitches, 2201 E. Veterans Memorial Boulevard
  • Haynes Elementary School, 3309 W. Canadian River Loop

Residents should bring their own containers to fill, and quantities may be limited depending on demand, the city said.

All water received must be boiled before consumption.

“The extreme winter conditions have left many residents of Killeen with low water pressure or no water service. As the City works to restore water levels and services, the Stage 5 water restrictions remain in place, ”the City said.

“Water use should be restricted to essential purposes until further notice. “

The city further said that water levels and pressure had dropped significantly and that a boil water advisory remained in effect throughout the city as a precaution.

“All water should be boiled before consumption until testing confirms that no contamination has occurred.”

The City has also received hundreds of reports of frozen private water pipes.

If your lines are blocked, please email [email protected] or call 254-501-6320. The City will send a team to shut off the water at the meter.

Also on Friday, the Town of Copperas Cove installed a water refill station in the front parking lot of the library at 501 S. Main Street. The City said staff would be available at the scene until 4 p.m. Friday.
